September 14/365 Songs 10

We came up from the subway
On the music midnight makes
To Charlie’s bass and Lester’s saxophone
In taxi horns and brakes.

It took me years to grow into Joni Mitchell’s Mingus album. So glad I did. Now when I listen to “Goodbye Pork Pie Hat”, I’m back in the 1980s, rising out of the DC Metro into November rain.

  1. I’ve never heard this either. Will investigate further when I’m not trying to type AND listen to a man mansplaining why women aren’t well-represented in law firm partnerships on the radio at the same time.
