November 10/365 Why I’m Not a Flat-Earther

Flat places unnerve me. I like the earth to reach up to shape the sky, to make the edges of the bowl. Without the embrace of hills, I feel likely to slide off, probably during the dark of night. I will just slip off into the black heavens if not hemmed in.

  1. Excellent title!

I was going to say I’ve never been anywhere truly flat, but I just remembered a road-trip in Australia about 20 years ago. Here I grew up on the plains, but there were always the foothills and mountains in the distance. like you, I think I need that.
